A Window to Legacy & Life of the City

Ahmedabad’s city bus, lovingly known as laal bus, has been on the roads of the city since last 70 years. While BRTS service of the city that is constantly growing and developing to get a tag of mega city has got an international recognition, the historic AMTS service still owns the title of ‘lifeline of the city’! The AMTS bus service, initiated to provide affordable means of transportation, was the first of its kind in the country and people of the city took pride in it. When started, minimum bus fare was just One Anna (6 paise) and maximum was Three Anna (20 paise)! One can explore almost all the parts of the city by laal bus, passing through the streets, nooks & corners of the city. Peeks & glances through the window portray heritage monuments that have withstood the centuries and add to city’s pride, along with city’s life & landscapes composed of daily mundane events & incidents, faces with varied emotions, temples & mosques and marvels of modern architecture. One would never be able to experience this while driving through the traffic maze on the roads.
The photographic journey of Ahmedabad Bioscope captures this essence of the city and offers an opportunity to take the pleasure of this diverse, multi-hued and colorful fabric of city’s life visible through the half-open windows of laal bus.
City Heritage Collection For a company dealing with thousands of years of traditional culture, City Heritage is very young. But it has undertaken the responsibility of preserving the design forms of India with passion and sincerity. City Heritage has explored and experimented with numerous art and craft styles to make the products contemporary in utility with the ‘Old World’ charm and charisma. City Heritage Collection attempts to document and popularise the unique Heritage of our cities and their protection for our future generations.
